3CX Phone System PBX Fax Software, Fax Server, Fax over IP

Note: If the Joyfax Server is deployed on the same machine as 3CX Phone System, you must ensure that the sip port is NOT THE SAME as the 3CX Phone System's SIP Port. Click here for details...

Configuring Joyfax Server with 3CX Phone System PBX for sending and receiving of faxes is a two step process:

1. Add New Fax Extension

Go to Start -> Programs -> 3CX Phone System, click Windows Management Console
Log on to the 3CX Phone System Management Console
Select the Fax Machines node
Click on the Add Fax Extension button and configure as follows:

Set the Fax Extension Number to a new extension number (in this example 880)
Set the Fax Extension Authentication ID to the same value as the fax extension number (in this example 880)
Set the Fax Extension Authentication Password to a strong password (in this example 2vtx4lw)

Click on the Apply button.

2. Configure Joyfax Server to Register with 3CX Phone System

In Joyfax Server, click the Stop-Sending and Stop-Receiving buttons on toolbars
On Server menu, click Devices Settings
Drop down the FoIP... button, and click Add account... from the popup menu. This will add a new provider:
Set the Registrar Server to the private IP Address of the 3CX Phone System it will register with (in this example 192.168.0.99)

Set the User Name to the Fax Extension Number set earlier (in this example 880)

Set the Authentication ID to the Fax Extension Authentication ID set earlier (in this example 880)
- Set the Password the password set earlier (in this example 2vtx4lw)
Set the SIP Domain to the private IP Address of the 3CX Phone System it will register with (in this example 192.168.0.99)

Set the Port to the SIP Listening port of the 3CX Phone System (in this example 5061, since the Joyfax Server resides on the same machine as 3CX Phone System; If Joyfax is on another machine than the 3CX Phone System, the default 5060 port can be used.)
Set the Caller ID to the extension number. This is the number used as Caller ID when dialing and is optional. BUT, it is needed if you would like to use multiple fax extensions.
Set the Called Party Number to the extension number. This is the number for Joyfax Server to know which line to use for answering with the particular called number. BUT, it is needed if you would like to use multiple fax extensions.
Set the Total Channels to 1 channel.
Click OK to add the provider.
If you have to set up a STUN server or proxy server for the provider: drop down the FoIP... button, and click Advanced... from the popup menu.
Click OK to close the Fax Devcies dialog box.
Click Start-Sending & Start Receiving buttons.

Deploy Joyfax on the same machine as 3CX Phone System

To deploy Joyfax on the same machine as 3CX Phone System, you have to change the SIP Listening port of the 3CX Phone System:

Log on to the 3CX Phone System Management Console
Go to Settings -> Network
Set the new SIP port (in this example 5061)
Click on the Apply button.
